Serielizados Fest premieres a fascinating documentary about the incredible true story of the \u201cJapanese Truman Show\u201d. A unique approach to the limits of reality television that will not leave you indifferent. <\/b><\/h2>\n

The documentary section of Serielizados Fest will host the Spanish premiere of this surprising film, The Contestant, a British production but focused on the protagonist of a Japanese reality show, <\/span>Susunu! Denpa Sh\u014dnen<\/i><\/b>, from the late 1990s who stayed naked in a room for over a year, tasked with entering magazine sweepstakes to win food and clothes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Live life in the purest Truman Show style; before the groundbreaking irruption of reality shows like Big Brother in the West, there was in Japan an ominous harbinger of what was to come in our oversharing-obsessed culture.<\/strong> <\/span>The Contestant<\/span><\/i> chronicles the experience of aspiring comedian Tomoaki Hamatsu,<\/strong> nicknamed Nasubi,<\/strong> who unwittingly became an extreme case study.<\/span>\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Clair Titley<\/strong> directs The Contestant<\/em>, one of the most WTF stories in the documentary selection of this edition of the festival.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
