A dramatic series based on real events about one of the most well-known murder, hostage, and siege cases in Finland.
The series follows the events based on the true story of Ilpo Larha, a notorious Finnish criminal known for a 55-hour hostage standoff in 1994. Larha, who had been convicted of murder, escaped from prison and barricaded himself in a house with several hostages, in a desperate attempt to escape justice.
The series recreates the dramatic standoff between Larha and the police, focusing on the tense negotiations and the panic that gripped the hostages and police as the situation escalated. The Siege explores Larha’s psychological motivations, his desperation, and the chaos he created as he was cornered by the authorities. It also depicts the police’s efforts to manage the crisis without further casualties, while facing ethical and strategic dilemmas.
A masterful mix of suspense and action thriller, as well as a deep exploration of criminal psychology, portraying the violence, fear, and tragic consequences of the event.
