The British Touch delves into the keys of the “other” country of television series, the United Kingdom. An industry, and a tradition with its own rules, capable of overshadowing American series thanks to its many masterpieces.

The history of television series owes a lot to the United Kingdom. The country of tea at five o’clock and love for the monarchy is television royalty in capital letters. And it is so thanks to the mythical series explored in this documentary signed by series specialist Olivier Joyard, who has already signed other documentaries premiered at the Serielizados Fest such as Les Génériques de séries and Israël, Terre de Séries.

From The Prisoner to Fleabag. From The Avengers to I May Destroy You, British television series have left their mark in homes around the world for decades. Series that managed to be popular, sophisticated, realistic or radical.

The British Touch is a documentary enriched by the many excerpts from series and interviews with screenwriters and creators such as Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) or Laurie Nunn (Sex Education) as well as well-known actors and specialists who explain their methods and share their ‘British imagination’. The documentary is a fascinating and very pedagogical approach to the British series industry that asks “Why are British series so good?“.
